Hi everyone. I am replacing the carpet in my condo with engineered hardwood. Unfortunately, the subfloor is gypcrete so I will be doing a floating floor. My question is this : Is there any way to reduce or eliminate the "hollow" sound of floating engineered hardwood floors.

Does the quality of underlayment make a difference and if so, what brand is recommended?

Does the brand or thickness of the engineered wood floor make a difference?

I'm new at this so any info would be welcome.

Thanks,
Raj

Kahrs has a new padding called Quiet Stride. I hear it is works well for reducing the hollow sound. I have used one called FloorMuffler.
