I am going to install(doing it myself) 1000 sq ft of Award Dawn Assisi 1/2"x6" over wood subfloor. One expert said float another said nail - have heard pro & con for both nail down and float - some say float is easier but noiser- would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

It all depends on skill level a floater with a nice pad wouldn't be to noiser if your subfloors level. But you can't beat a nail down. Your lay out sould also be take into consideration when chooseing. Do your homework/ask alot of questions.GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR FLOORS

Steve is right on the money but don't confuse level with what you really want. The key is flatness of the overall subfloor. If you miss a few low spots on floor preparation it will get squishy. As far as the noise is concerned, some can notice the sound while others can't. It's more of the feel than anything that is more noticeable in my opinion.

I prefer to mechanically fasten when possible, floaters imo feel a little false under foot (it gives a little when you walk across). I think stapleing one down is a cleaner job as well, no squeeze back glue to worry about cleaning of the face.
