Howdy, y'all,
I've been doing a lot of research today trying to figure out how to fix my problem, and I am pretty sure I know what I need to do, but I wanted to verify.
I am putting Morningstar Bamboo flooring on our second floor, nailing it to the 3/4" T&G plywood subfloor. I've got the first room prepped except for the flatness - along one wall, I have about a 1/2" drop in 16". The opposite wall has a slope of 3/4" in 3' where it meets the wall, and slopes back up to the "flat" level at the end of the dormer.
The problem is the construction - I can't really afford to fix it, and I don't feel that I need to if I can flatten the floor.
I am going to use wood and roofing supplies to build it up, and sand to blend the wood in, but I'm having trouble locating the wood. I've called two lumber yards, and the thinnest stuff they have is 1/8" and 1/4" Masonite, or 3/8" CDX plywood. I can't find any luan, but I'm going to check HD tonight when I rent the edge sander. Can I use masonite as a floor patch? Can it be sanded? Or should I just search for Luan?
Thanks!
