Hi, I was wondering if anybody might know how to apply parquet flooring to an abnormally shaped riser. This riser is round but not completely circular. I have managed to steam oak skirting boards into circular shapes before but am unsure about the effects of using this technique on parquet flooring (i.e the adhesives used in the board). Any help much appreciated..... Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't bother. I'll either use solid plank and kerf the backside so it will make the bend OR use 1/4" oak plywood which bends easily. If you must use the parquet, use the finger block type and runs the slats verticle. They will conform to curves very easy that way.

Thanks for your reply gary. I managed to shape the floorboard using a mixture of steam, brute force and weaking the board from behind with a chopsaw. For my next trick... I will try to steam the solid oak nosing into the same shape. It will probably end in tears but I might as well give it a go anyway. :P  :?
