I posted this on the wrong forum so I am posting it again in this section. I hope that is okay.

I recently had maple engineerd wood flooring installed throughout my condo. It is second story and on a slab. Very dry floor. It looks beautiful except for a couple of boards that cupped in the middle of the living room floor. No other problems anywhere else. The person who installed the floor came back twice to fix those couple of boards and he has not been able to get the boards to fit in so that they match the other boards. They are not cupping just not level. The first time he said he thought the glue expanded. Not sure what the issue was the second time.

I have to get this fixed. Has anyone ever fixed a couple of boards on a glued down floor that are in the middle of the floor? If so how did you do it- I am really worried about being able to get this fixed.

Thanks for your help
Roberta

I would sure be interested why only a couple of the planks cupped. Do you have plumbing running under the subfloor?

Replacing planks in the middle of the floor is common, and can be done without detecting replacement. You may have to find someone else that has more experience replacing planks.

Answer to the first question- no I do not have plumbing under the subfloor.

Answer to second question- yes we brought all the wood in the house a couple of weeks before the project started and we spread it out in the condo. When they did the replacements-both times- we brought wood in again and it sat for a week the first time in the house and the second time for a couple of weeks.

You make me feel better stating that they should be able to do a replacement. Any suggestions on how to find someone who would be qualified to do that and be willing to fix someone else's mess?

Thanks for the help,
Roberta

That's a touchy situation..and your right, most installers don't want to get involved in someone elses mess.
Did you use a company? Maybe they can send over someone else? You pretty much have to exhaust all avenues, with the people/person that installed the floor, before you go looking elsewhere. If you end up looking for someone else....try to get a feel if they've done a lot of plank replacement in the past...maybe an "oldtimer' like me or SP  Whoever it is...they're probably going to want a pretty penny to do it...

Floorologist is correct, and many guys won't touch a repair for less than $350. Howard is older than me so he is more expensive.

True. He might not be very good at repairs . Sounds like he needs to scrape or cut out the old already set glue to make room for new glue ? Maybe he's trying to put new glue on top of the old .
