Came across this site and have been impressed with the responses and information provided. I'm currently researching for installation of 9/16" strand woven T&G nailed bamboo floor. I'm split between completing the install my self or contracting it out. One question that I have not been able to get a good answer on is the set-up of a pneumatic floor nailer for a 9/16" floor. Can you use the same base plate as you would for 1/2" flooring? Do they make base plates for 9/16" flooring? Or do you rig something up to get the nailer set-up correctly? Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to be able to complete this project myself, not only to save some money, but to learn something new and the self satisfaction of completing the job myself.

Thanks, and I'm sure there will be plenty of questions still to come.

The nailers I've bought lately came with plates for 3/4" and 5/8" flooring. We use the 5/8" plate for bamboo,it works fine. You definitely don't want the staples landing too low on the tongue,as this will cause splitting, which can lead to bigger problems such as popping, cracking, movement in your floor. If 1/2" is as close as you can get,a few layers of felt and some tape should even it up.You'll eventually wear the tape off and have to re do it,but it'll get the job done.
