Well I was at work today sitting in front of my computer when a realization came into my head. I had measured wrong!!! When I was measuring for my expansion space to be covered by my 7/16 shoe molding I came up with 3/8 expanion space. Well I am about 12 rows in and I realized that I had measured from the wall to the TONGUE and NOT to the end of the board. So my expansion space on one wall is the 3/8 plus the 1/4 inch tongue. What a beginner!!!!

So my question to you guys is this. Does quarter round look ok? I could rip up the 12 pieces and replace them to get the proper measurement, or I can return my shoe molding and buy quarter round. The only other problem is my other rooms have shoe molding, would it look strange to have quarter round in some rooms, and shoe in others?!

Well I guess this is the price to pay for doing it yourself!

I wouldn't tear out 12 rows of flooring over an 1/8" gap at the baseboards. Come up with a solution. The bigger trim seems to be your only option. I doubt anyone will notice except you and flooring pros.

If it were me I would put some serious consideration in running quarter round on the one starter wall only. A good painter should help hide that anomaly. :)

I agree... qtr. round on one wall would not be very noticeable to most folks.
