Hello. After hours of internet research, I figured I'd join the forum to help answer a couple questions I still have regarding my installation.
I am laying around 400 sq. ft. of Bruce 3/4" oak.

1) The south side of the floor ends in a hallway perpendicular to a step.
-Keeping expansion gap in mind, is my best bet to use an overlapping stair nose?
-If so, where do I get one of these to match my floors?
-What is the installation procedure?

2) I do not want shoe molding.
-Is it an acceptable practice to cut away the bottom 1" of drywall from the room's perimeter to move the 3/4"expansion gap toward the frame of the wall allowing for 3/8" or even 5/8' base molding?

Looking forward to discussing further!

When the floor is perpendicular you will be ok without an expansion gap.
Yes, you can undercut the drywall for he expansion gap. An oscillating multi tool works well for this. Use a shop vac at the same time to get the drywall dust.

No gap needed at the stairnosing. Install the nose first, and work off it to keep it tight at the starting ends of each row.
