If you can't tell from my post count, my name is Luke and I am new to the forum. There is a lot of great information here!

This is my first floor and I am installing some of the thin stuff (5/16 pre-finished solid brazilian redwood) and had a question around the first and last rows. I started the room by face nailing the first 2 rows. Now I am at the end of the room and there is a good 4 rows that the staple gun can't get to. I really don't want to face nail 4 rows and then have to deal with trying to fill the holes. I looked around on the site a bit and it seems like I might be able to get away with toe nailing and gluing 2 rows, just gluing the next row, and gluing and face nailing the final row next to the wall (putting the nail under where the baseboard will be). I have several questions:

-Is this a normal route for finishing off the last few rows in the room?
-If so, what kind of glue do you use?
-How big of a nail would you use for toe nailing 5/16 flooring? This stuff is thin enough that I could probably just use a thumbtack
-Since I am using felt paper as underlayment, I assume I need to cut that out for these last 4 rows, is that going to cause any issues?
-Are there any other options?

Thanks in advance!
Luke

Welcome Luke.
1.yes that is the norm.
2.Depends look in the box for whats reccommended by the manufacture diffrent glues for solids vs eng.
3.1 1/4" 18-20g brads
4.yes you will need to cut back the felt and no dont stress about that.
5.youre heading in the right direction, face nails look shotty on prefinished floors especially if they are in perfect rows all lined up 18" out into the field.
