If you can't tell from my post count, my name is Luke and I am new to the forum. There is a lot of great information here!
This is my first floor and I am installing some of the thin stuff (5/16 pre-finished solid brazilian redwood) and had a question around the first and last rows. I started the room by face nailing the first 2 rows. Now I am at the end of the room and there is a good 4 rows that the staple gun can't get to. I really don't want to face nail 4 rows and then have to deal with trying to fill the holes. I looked around on the site a bit and it seems like I might be able to get away with toe nailing and gluing 2 rows, just gluing the next row, and gluing and face nailing the final row next to the wall (putting the nail under where the baseboard will be). I have several questions:
-Is this a normal route for finishing off the last few rows in the room?
-If so, what kind of glue do you use?
-How big of a nail would you use for toe nailing 5/16 flooring? This stuff is thin enough that I could probably just use a thumbtack
-Since I am using felt paper as underlayment, I assume I need to cut that out for these last 4 rows, is that going to cause any issues?
-Are there any other options?
Thanks in advance!
Luke
