Hi there I'm new to this board, and I have a question about a fir floor I just installed in my house remodel project. I know It's not hardwood ,but I didnt know where else to get my questions answered. the material was stored in a dry garage for 5 years then stored on the same floor it was installed in for 8 months its nice cvg and some flat grain fir all 12' lengths ,very nice stuff, I installed it myself [1st timer] and it turned out very nice although there was some narrow grooves between the boards I used a flooring air nailer cut nails nailed every 6 " spent a lot of extra time getting it as tight as possible however due to the variance in milling there is some narrow spaces as i said before. I farmed out the finishing job, because I wanted a super nice result the guys belt floor sanded it with 40 grit troweled on a coat of filler belt sanded with 60 ,120 then screen 120 stained then Glitza gold seal screened 1 more coat Glitza goldseal,220 screen, thenGlitza lite scent but I still have voids between the boards,to me it looks like the filler was not applied correctly,it was a product the guy thinned with water and completly coated the floor with a trowel I dont know the brand on this one should I expect no open seams on a floor like this? I thought at least at first it would be sealed and may open up over time as the wood shrank also some of the flooring was down for a month before finishing sorry for the long windedness thanks in advance Bruce
