I am installing Owens Plankfloor, 5" Hickory. This is my first major hardwood job. I have a question about finishing. I'd like to get a slight amber tone in the floor with a Satin or low gloss finish. The research I have done points me to:
1. Bona Kemi DriFast Sealer
Followed by:
2. Bona Traffic

Will the Bona Kemi Drifast Sealer give it the amber tone? Does this sound like a reasonable combination of sealer/finish?

Also, unrelated to finishing but I might as well ask - I'm gluing down over Ceramic Tile and have purchased Ardex SDF to fill in the grout lines prior to install. Since I have 1200SQFT this is becoming expensive - any recommendations on other alternatives to this?

Thanks!

The upper part of this photo is new Owens 2 1/4 select red oak. The lower part is 60 year old red oak. We installed this Owens in this new area and sanded and finished the new Owens and 1500sf of the old existing flooring. The old oak looks good even after going underwater during Katrina.

We used Bona DriFast sealer for a rich color and Traffic for the finish.

Thanks - looks like what I am going after. One question though, is your traffic satin or semi?
Cheers....

This job was semi gloss. I think about 75% of our jobs now are semi.
The Owens at the top of the photo had just been coated, still wet.
