I hope you can be patient with my newbie questions.
I've done my homework on here and read the various opinions on how to finish off the last few rows, with the idea being to cut back the felt, glue the rows, and face nail the last row where it will be covered by the baseboard. A couple of questions though -
Is it possibly to buy the appropriate urethane glue in small quantities to do such a small job? You pros obviously get through the stuff from job to job, but it would seem overkill for me to buy one of those big drums when I'd only use a fraction of it for those few rows.
The other point was whether I could simply avoid the gluing altogether by hand nailing the last few rows at the appropriate 45 degree angle through the tongue? I thought I might even be able to help the second last row, in case it's a little cramped for comfortable nailing (my flooring is 3" wide by the way) by pre-drilling some angled holes in the tongue to facilitate inserting the nail in. The last row I would then face-nail as recommended. I know this would be a tedious operation for professionals who have time considerations, but I figured for my own floor, even if it takes a while, it might be an option that might work.
Any thoughts?
