I was out to bid a project today on the state fair grounds for the dept of Natural Resources. Its a big building that literally gets the traffic of hundreds of thousands of people. No one obviously lives here, so I am open to an oil or water finish. We usually use traffic, but I am looking for something even tougher. Maybe some gym floor stuff or something. Any suggestions? Thanks

I used Bona's sport finish on a maple floor for a YMCA here in Connecticut. It is actually softer than Traffic. Traffic is the more durable and resistant finish of the two. Sport finish is for a commercial or high traffic floor that will be re coated regularly .So for max toughness, Traffic is the way to go unless you want to go the moisture cure route.Moisture cure is a bit harder than Traffic and less money obviously.

Thanks Paul. I will go with Traffic. Maybe I will just do a few extra coatings.

I would go with the specs provided..you may just outbid yourself with traffic....at 100 a gallon it can happen very easily..

there are usually specs with a job of this nature...

Unfortunately, their are no specs. I am only bidding against one other guy. I think I may just bid it for a standard 3 coats and offer additional coats as an option. This way the bottom line of my bid is less and they will still have the option to add more coats if they want. You are right the finish would cost an arm and a leg for 8,000 square feet. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a good plan.
