Hello, we installed an insert fireplace, it is a kit with mantel, hearth...etc. The problem is the floor is not even and now there is a relief all around the perimeter of the hearth, worse on one side then the other.

The mantel and hearth are easily removed if needed. I am handy and not afraid to try anything, but i want it to look right. I just don't know what does look right.
Running some edging around the hearth in its current spot does not appeal to me (Wife

I was thinking of removing the hearth, and building a raised floor where the hearth would sit, finishing off the edges to mirror the hearth, but not sure how this would look.
Any suggestions?
