I am starting a herringbone job Thursday. Bruce prefinished 2 1/4" strip square edge. I hope it turns out as good as yours did but I'm having some serious misgivings.

I agree gary, I wish it was more popular. it was only a small area but the difference it made was huge. classic timeless design.

Very nice and I also agree that herringbone work is pretty uncommon in my area. I think people are unaware and the price factor is another. A border or apron would have set that off alot more, but like you said they didn't want to spend it. I once did a unfinished 3/4"x 2 1/4" herringbone job that was 2500 sq.ft. with a radius border in hallway....that job took forever with 4 guys workiing it.
