Getting ready to finish my wide plank ash flooring. There are some knots and worm holes which I like, I think they add character. One of the finish guys I spoke to suggested I fill them with a clear poly material before they finish. He pointed out that some of the knots are large enough that a woman wearing heels could catch a heel in one of the holes. The clear poly he said will allow the appearance of the knot holes without the danger.

BUT he did not remember the name or exact type of material to fill the holes. Anybody heard of this? Which product should I be looking for?

Thanks.

Alan

I don't think polyurethane will work. I'd opt for clear two part epoxy OR fiberglass resin if you want the voids to be filled with a clear product.
