Sorry, feel free to delete this but I didn't know where else to make this suggestion...

With the SPAMmers hitting several times a day, have you guys given any thought to giving some of the more senior guys here Moderator powers? I'm thinking people like Gary and FloorGuy who seem to be here several times a day and by now have certainly shown their trustworthiness.

If the SPAM posts last for less than an hour or so the idiots will likely quit wasting their time here. More policing would be a good thing, methinks. While they browse they can just delete the SPAM when they see it.

Not to complain in the slightest about the way things are run here. You guys do a great job and provide an *awesome* service. Keep up the great work.

This just started a few months ago. For the longest time, there were no spammers, except a few guys trying to hawk their flooring under the guise of asking a question. But not like now. I'm hoping Ken can figure a way to block spam. But since I have about zero knowledge of these kind of things, I'd be no help. If Ken asks me to moderate, then I would if I could just read and delete.

Ya, this is a recent occurance. In the last month, those things started up.

Don't you have to register to post? Seems like Ken would grab a real e-mail account associated with an ip address, to track them down???

Guys..

It's happening on many message board systems. Most are spambots. They'll always find a new way to spam as they'll get smarter and smarter. I asked Gary last year if he wanted to moderate but didn't get a reply. We can have Perry do it too. I'm out of town until early next week...then I'll look into it.

Ken

Ask me again. Let me know all that it entails. I might just surprize you. :)

Hey, all I'm gonna do right now is focus on getting the spammers and pornographers off of here. That in itself will be a huge improvement considering what we all have had to put up with over the last month or so. But thanks, Perry and I shall do our best! :)

Lesee, Gary...Perry... My name is Jerry, so do I get keys, too?!?

And, you know, the great balls of fire links shouldn't be *too* high of a priority...

<ahem>

Seriously, though, I'm glad to see you two guys on the job. Both of you have more than shown your dedication to the board. You both have forgotten more about laying floors than I'll ever know.

Just remember: With great power comes great responsibility.

I've run cigar boards for a long time and have modded on a few beer boards. Welcome to the world of herding cats.

<laughing maniacally at what you two have gotten yourselves into>
