Hi,
More questions, sorry. So Mullican says to use asphalt felt or Aquabar under the floor, my contractor says it's not necessary. It seems that if you put felt under the floor, you aren't gluing the floor down anymore, just to the felt. So, how does that work?

You don't use felt on a glue down.

Felt or Aquabar are for staple/nail only.

So, if you're using both glue and staple you don't need the felt, then, right?

Hi Floorologist,
Nope, you didn't scare me from naildown. I'm happy to report that you all talked my husband into adding a layer of T&G 3/4 inch plywood to our sunroom floor. Thanks! But, it seems that Mullican is glued and stapled/nailed, so I'm trying to understand the process.

Mullican you can glue OR staple, ( one or the other ). You CAN glue AND staple, if you want . Usually one or the other is sufficient. On a engineered naildown you would want to staple every 4-6 inches. As the guys said , when using felt underlayment your doing a naildown, ( you dont glue over felt ). If you want to do a gluedown then you would glue direct to the subfloor.
