Have 12 year old Brazilian cherry floors. It is considerably darker under the rugs and we would like to even them out. As a test we had a few scraps of the flooring in the attic and taped some cardboard to them and left them where they got some indirect sun and maybe a little direct sun for a few months. Surprisingly the covered part is lighter than the exposed parts. Can anyone explain the opposite effects???
Any idea how long it might take to even this out? The spots at issue don't get direct sunlight but are fairly well lit indirectly. Hopefully not as long as they have been fading.
Is exposing them with UV lights reasonable? I am thinking were it is already faded won't fade much more so exposing the whole area would even things out but don't know how much light and/or time would be needed.
