Hey Guys,

What size and style of nails should we use for face nailing the first and last rows of our 3/4 birch floor ?

We have a porta-nailer with the face nailing shoe but the porta nails with the T head make a large hole in the toung when blind nailing. I don't want something this large on the face of the wood if possible. Should I pick up an air powered nailer for this ? We have a brad nailer but I am not sure the gauge of nail I should use for this and am doubting it has the power to sink them fully.

What are you guys using ?

You can use a 15g or I use PL400 adhesive and 18g nails just to hold it until the glue dries.

PL Premium is more flexible than PL400.. I have used both with no problems but prefer premium if the wood might move more than ususal.

I just find the 400 easier to clean up if you get it on something.

Oops. Its actually PL premium that we have not PL400. Any tips for getting that slight residue off if you touch a board with it on your finger ?

Mineral spirits. Or if you prefer Bostik makes some pretty smelling saturated towellettes.
