My family room is on the first floor and the basement below is not finished..
Could I drill small holes from the basement ceiling into the underside of the 3/4 inch Brazilian Walnut, and use small screws to pull and hold the hardwood down, and avoid face nailing the strips. or am I asking for trouble???

ANYONE???

Thanks,
Jumbo

That's got to be one of the most strange suggestions ever. If you don't want to use nails, just glue them. Screwing from underneath would be for quieting down a noisy or loose board.

Sorry, Gary, Maybe I wasn't clear enough....I was only refering to the last row where the nail gun doesn't fit in the tongue area. I thought maybe by putting screws in from the underside, I could avoid having to fill in some holes on the surface.

The area where I have where I'm mostly concerned to face nail on top is at a treshhold between the kitchen and family room which is an open fully visible area. I was hoping to keep it as clean as possible, without having to fill in the holes There is about 8 or 9 feet total there, and only one strip total.

I wasn't refering to the entire floor.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough....

It would work, but wow what a pain. hehee

Just lay aside straight stuff for the walls and glue it with Bostiks Best or Stauf 940
