Hi guys, i've read the posts about finishing the last few rows where the MIIIFS don't fit. (3/4" x 3.5" solid maple) I went and bought a bostitch n62fnk (15 gauge angle) but it seems i wont get a good angle (looks to be about 30 degree afraid of tongue split) to blind nail the 3rd lst row and obvciously the last two. i prefer not to face nail as there is not much grain in the maple to hide with color putty and I,m not exactly sure if i can glue these last three rows to the wood subfloor and what type of glue to use if i can. I heard of gluing the last two rows togethor and then face nailing which i like the sound of but again i'm not sure what type of glue to use.

I bought Bruce Kennendale plank and it seeems that just about every board is warped to a degree. I think this will make it tough to glue the last two boards togethor and then face nail.

Does most engineered come fairly straight?

Thanks guys.

Buy some Bostiks BST and a trowel, along with some 1½" wide, 3M blue painters tape. Tape them tight while the glue sets up. Weight the area too.

No, you won't need to glue the tounge and groove the BST is very strong. It wouldn't hurt to face nail the last row since you stated that the wood is warped. Blue tape works unless warping is too severe.

If you face nail the last row try either using a pry bar with a peice of wood against the baseboard...OR a long flat head screw driver driven in the floor infront of the last row,but becareful to not dent the baseboard.

You can use a series of wedge shims (door shims) in the expansion gap to hold it till the glue sets. Or use a brad nailer to face nail the last board.

You can, that is how it use to be done. Predrill and set finish nails. If you practice with your brad nailer it is a whole lot faster. Just remember to use a piece of cardboard between your brad gun and the wall to prevent denting and oil spray(people hate that)

You see my brad nailer (bostitch n62fnk2 angle nailer) shoots 15 gauge but i can't get a good angle to blind nail it on the last 3 rows, i don't want to face nail so i am thining to predrill the boards and hand nail with 5d or 6d (is that right). and then face nail the last row with my bostitch. (will hide under baseboard.

Schark, brad nailer's are 18ga. and leave a very small hole to fill. I will use that sometimes to help hold the boards until the glue sets. Use your finish nailer if you are not gluing.
