Hello,
What was your experience with using Clarke's EZ Sand? This is orbital three head sander. I called tool rental place about drum sander and edger---the weekly rates were $220 for drum and $96 for edger. The owner recommended using EZ Sand if this was for the new floor, not refinish. He said weekly rate for EZ Sand is $210 per week. I thought this would be much better way to go since I don't need to borrow both drum and edger. Also, if I can use EZ Sand for sanding between the coat, I thought it would be a big saving---the rate for regular orbital sander for between coats is $130 per week.

Your input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

FYI.
I found out that following sanders--even though they are much slower than drum sander---will work for the new unfinished floor:

1) Clarke's EZ Sand
2) U-Sand
3) Varathane's EZV orbital sander

Expect to use much more sand discs than suggested and hand scraping/hand sanding the 1 inch strip along the edge.

Have you actually done this? Or is this what the tool rental yard is telling you? In my experience, those types of sanders MAY work. But SOME new installation jobs have quite a bit of overwood/underwood. If the installer is not careful, end butt joints can often be quite uneven on unfinished flooring. Those sanders will take forever to remove enough material to flatten real uneven butt joints. Plus, the substrate must be dead on as those sanders will not sand out uneven spots of the installation if the substrate isn't flat.

So, IF the subfloor is very flat. And IF the wood flooring is very well milled. And IF the installer is very careful not to install any "funky" boards. Then those oscillating sanders will work, as long as you don't mind standing behind some vibrating tool for hours upon hours of mind numbing boredom.

I have tried them, but you just can't compare that to a good belt sander and good edger man.
