Going to be renting a drum sander at home depot tomorrow, think it’s an ez8.

Refinishing about 800 sqft of oak, and about 175 sq ft of new oak was laid. I have absolutely no idea how to estimate the amount of each grit of paper I will need to do this.. Will overbuy and return, but I don’t even know where to start :)

Any help?

My plan was to do maybe the first or maybe first and second grits with the drum sander then switch to the U-sand random orbit to finish up and get close, get the closets, etc.

Appreciate any help

for the price your gonna pay in materials id be willing to bet a pro can doit for very close to the price your gonna pay. the only differnce will be his work is gonna look good free of drum marks and scratches.

sanding and refinishing really is not a job for the inexperienced, those 110 volt machines dont have the power to get the floor flat like a 220volt.
