I am almost ready to install 5" wide enginered BC over osb subfloor. My question is whether to nail, staple, or glue? Am leaning towards staple. Would glue and staple be even better? Product is 9/16" thick seven ply, should be stable but want to avoid any problems. OSB is 1 1/8 inch thick.

Rosin paper and staple it.

You still need to be sure the OSB is no more the 4% different in Moisture content, then the Brazilian Cherry flooring.

Thanx Floorguy
Why rosin paper and not 15# felt? Also a question about acclimation. Salesman told me to leave flooring in box wrapped in plastic till ready to use. Does this sound right ? How can wood acclimate if its wrapped in plastic?

Asphalt saturated felt will work too.

That leaving it wrapped in plastic without air exchange, goes against everything I learned in wood science classes.

Ever see condensation appear on the inside of a plastic bag? I have unless that wood is dried to zero and put in the bag immediately, and vacuum packed.

I've often wondered about that "leave it in the package until ready to install" thing. Why do they say that? There must be a good reason.

The packing helps keep the boards flat ( you ever noticed a stack of plywood before and after the bands are cut) and if they are in plastic it aids in keeping it at the manufactured moisture content. some manufactures have asked you leave it in the carton because if you read into there warrenty it is expected to go into a home that has a consistant rh and temp with no known moisture issues. Well in perfect that would be ideal but in the real world of fast paced construction this is not the case the majority of the time. If you ever do have a problem you better hope you stuck to the manufactures guidlines or you wont get anywhere with a claim.

"leave it in the package until ready to install"

Keeping floors MC at a ideal level, stable and no distortion. When the floors were put in air, its MC maybe changed.
