We have carpet and want to replace about 1000 sq feet with engineered wood. There is a concretete subfloor below it. We recently put a humidistat in to keep the humidity at or below 60% year around.

One store we went to recommended a Bruce Engineered Wood Turlington Butterscotch. The planks are 3/8" thick and 5" wide.

Another store we went to recommended the American Collection by CFD. Again an Oak 3/8" by 5"

Are either of these brands decent? If someone could give us a brand etc to specify we will ask the floor for pricing on it. We don't know the right question(s) to ask.

They both said they will direct glue it to the floor and the glue has a built in moisture barrier.

Thanks for any & all help, we aren't as young as we once were and don't need the aggravation of having someone put junk down.

Typically 3/8 is a budget floor but there are some nice ones like Anderson makes and it has a decent top layer. I find that the 3/8 and 5/16 matches up to thinner ceramic tiles so you need to keep transitioning in mind.

Oh, forgot to mention you can get a nice 5/8 sawn face and even rift an quarter sawn from Owens. Plus get it presanded and all you need to do is screen and coat with your favorite finish.

Hmmm, wonder if W-D Flooring has presanded? They have some beautiful engineered with Rubio Monocoat on as well.

Thank you for your response Stephen.

We are in Sarasota, one of the 2 people that I talked to, said he can get whatever I want, thru his distributor in Tampa.

Does anyone else have a product they'd recommend ? Sounds like I need thicker than 3/8" thank you
