I had a 3 different width 5, 3, and 2 inch hickory handscraped hardwood engineered flooring put in my living room, halls and dining 2 years ago. I just had the same comPany come in and add the same hardwood to my kitchen. The owner of the floori g company said for the installers to remove the individual boards along the edge of where it was to tie in and weave in the new boards. It's a perfect color match, however they cut some of the boards and didn't take them back to the joints. Each plank has a beveled edge so the ones that were cut lost that. They also left gaps in the newly laid area. I can tell it was a tie in and I'm not happy. What do I do?

It's possible there are ways to fix what your describing. If possible post pictures, so we can tell more of what's going on...

Not sure why some guys don't carry different color stain pens. I do and they save my butt many times. Cutting of sanding a bevel and staining it is pretty easy, like floor installation 101.

Exactly, I don't get it. I always have a variety of stain colors in my truck,( just quarts), there's all types of situations where I use them. And yea..not a big deal to sand or file a bevel. I've run across patch situations, in the middle of the floor, where the lengths of left over planks aren't the right size.....just bevel the end and go for it. You can even use a multifuncion on a plank that's down...cut it in the middle of the length, and file a bevel on the end.
