Hi Everyone,
A Newbie here.
My flooring is a Trillium Hard Maple Select Engineered hardwood 3 1/2" x 5/8" - Uniclic system. I am leaving between a 1/4" and 3/8" space between the hardwood and the wall using spacers. Is this sufficient? I have heard horor stories of new floors "buckling".
I have 6mm cork underlay (strata rules) in a concrete slab condo building.

The baseboards I am looking at are only 1/2" thick and I prefer not to use a base - "half-round" is that the correct term?

Any help is Greatly appreciated!!

Thanks for any and all assistance.
Ken.

I'm, assuming you are acclimating the flooring?

Uniclic is a great system. Sounds like your going about it right, in terms of the expansion space. Be sure to undercut jambs & casings, as well as use appropriate transition mouldings, to allow for the expansion space at all areas.

Thanks Floorologist. I appreciate the advise.

yeah, I did climatize the floor in the same room. I stored & independatly spaced for 6 months (haha - I know).

Thanks for the undercut info. I forgot about that.

Remember when cutting the jambs, etc. that if you put the floor too far under, you will have lost your expansion tolerance.
Also, if the unit is fully occupied then you shouldn't need to worry too much. If you tend to go away a lot, then remember to keep your climate control systems set to normal live-in conditions.
