I have a home with approx. 1200' of tile that I would like to lay Engineered flooring over. The floors are very straight and tiles are very secure. I have installed laminate type "quick lock" floating floors in the past with good results. For this portion of the house, we prefer to not use laminate.

We have found a product that is a engineered that we would like to use, it however is not a "quick-lock" style. I would like to install it as a floating floor and only glue the tongue and groove joints.

Any tips or recommendations on this type of installation? I'm aware there are specific glues for this and to use "strap clamps" for a nice tight install.

Thanks for your comments!

On a edge glue I recommend using nothing under 1/2" thick and nothing under 5" wide. still needs to be over a thin underlayment pad.

I am currently installing about 2000 sq ft of engineered hardwood over tile in my basement. I prefer glue down, it has a nice quality feel and quiet sound when you walk on it...very solid. The tiles were flat, no lippage. Installation has gone well so far.

Did you "scuff" the tiles before you applied the glue. The tiles in my home are quite slick and I am afraid that the glue would not adhere long term.

The wood I am going to use is 1/2" and the planks are 7-3/4" wide.

No, did not have to scuff them. The tiles are a low grade travertine and the glue bonds extremely well. I cleaned the floor with alcohol to remove any grease or dirt. If your tiles are slick, I would scuff them up first.
This is the glue I am using: http://www.wftaylor.com/index.php/1006/mspa/
