They're pretty much steering you right, although you don't have to have it "refinished". You can have the existing finish recoated....the finish is abraded, and another layer is applied on top. There are sprays that are supposed to "mask" scratches, but I've yet to find one that actually works. There are refresher products, but those contain urethane solids, and aren't very durable long term....once you start using them , you're pretty much resigned to using them for eternity. Plus, they are quite finnicky, and if you don't apply them EXACTLY as instructed, they are bad to streak or cloud. Bottom line, if the scratches are so bad that you can't live with them, pay a pro to screen and recoat the floor.
