We've just finished installing an engineered floating bamboo floor over concreate floor; toungue and groove are glued. All in all the project turned out sucessful. There is more a subjective issue that is REALLY bugging me and that is in hallway area my working helper had layed in a heavy concentration of darker floor boards closely together instead of varying with a few more ligher ones. Is quite noticible. I have thouroughly read through the article, 'Repairing Floating Hardwood Floors' so I have the basic idea. I am a bit nervous but want to attempt to replace 2-3 dark boards with light boards. My question is any that have done this type of floor replacement and was it successful for you? Other concerns I have include - Will the replaced board be structurally OK; giving the fact I need to trim the underside of the grooves off. Can I also keep the tounge intact in the short end and still get the floor board in place? These are the longer planks. I used Titebond flooring glue for the project. Would this be the best adhesive for the replacement floorboards?

I appreciate your feedback. - Thanks

Just did one yesterday on a floating bamboo plank. Turned out ok. The issue I see is if there is ever going to be any stress on the floor, that where it will pop first, at the weakest point.
I would not try this unless your skilled enough to do plunge cuts with a skil saw. It can be very dangerous.

I'd start by asking the installer who did it to replace a couple for ya. Here's a tip for ya after the plank is removed. I still am not able to post images I guess so here a link to them.

What happened to my links? Should I link them to my flickr account? Is linking to another flooring forum in poor taste here?

I took them out only because you needed to register on your site to view them.

OIC, thanks. I'll fix that over there. I just didn't put them up on my flickr account yet so it was easier to just link them.

I think we have narrowed down to one board to replace. The board is in a smaller hallway area; assuming the expansion/contraction wouldn't be as great in regard to pressure on board. I was thinking of using my Rotozip tool with the blade for wood cutting; carefully set the depth as to avoid the concrete underneath best I can. Also blue tape adjacent boards to avoid any scratching. Wondering if I use a drill with hole saw (have Morse kit) to also remove wood? Got the sharp wood chisels to carefully finish removing remaining wood.

Still kinda wondering about the best glue option. I have read a urethane based glue is a good choice and some have recommended PL400 which I have worked with in the past. Seems the PL400 would be like a rock after set and near impossible for the board to potentially pop due to too much pressure.

More feedback appreciated.

Thanks :?

Thanks for the insight AustinFloorguy. Then that's what glue I'll go with.
