Hello,

I'm planning some new construction and want to transition from an engineered floor to a tile floor all of which will be installed over radiant heat. The radiant heat floks say to do a floating application. I want a clean transition from one floor surface the the other, preferably without any trim. Is there any way to obtain this smooth transition? Can I glue the plank next to the tile? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

You will need to know the finished highth of both floor coverings. Most of the tile put down in this area ends up being just shy of 3/4" overall. recently some people have gone to that new plastic deitra underlayment which finishes out almost 1/2". Also be sure the floor you buy is acceptable over radient heat, some manufactures will not warranty there products for that type of application. Anyway you will need to find out the diminisions of the floor and tile then you can figure out how to handle the transition.

Not with a floating floor.

You can try foam backer rod, and sanded color match caulking to match the tiles grout, but that will eventually pull away.
