I own a flooring company and right now all I use is subs. Right now my profit is around $0.70 sq ft on hardwood. If I hire full time employees I can more than double my profit to $1.50 sq ft. For the most part I have them busy everyday. I know that they would need to be paid for the days they don't work also. For those of you that have employees what do you do about insurance under the new Obama plan? Do I have to pay there insurance? Could I just pay for there workers comp and act like there subs still but I supply the van, gas and all the materials? Any help is much appreciated!!

You could write a book about that whole scenario. My liability insurance company said that if I hire subs I have to pay extra on a per sf foot basis to cover them.

WC is so expensive I can't afford it for employees. Wood floors being about the highest due to working with saws. Plus I can't find anyone who can pass a background check. So I do it myself.
