Have any of you guys heard of an "Edger Buggy" ?

I've googled, and can't find anything. It looks like some sort of metal framed contraption with wheels. It has 2 pads , where you sit on it and lean over the front, for edging. Sorta looks like an engine cherry picker( kinda ). But it's suppose to be the hot tip for saving your back, and edging faster and comfortably.
I saw one on ebay, and missed the auction. The guy was leaning over it , running an edger. Maybe that was HIS name for it ?? (Unfortunately I cant contact him after the auction, to ask where he got it ).

Its called the "back saver" edger dolly.
Don't know who makes it but you can get it at Floorstyle

There is a type of dolly one can use for edging, although it can also be used to install as well. I've never tried one but it's called Racatac. Here's the link: http://www.racatac.com/mrac.html

Anyone use this before ? How about the mechanics seat ? I've tried neither but the mechanics seat seems more logical.

I haven't tried one of these. I've seen them but none of the floor guys I know use one. Here's what I do to help with back strain when edging. First, I do not stand and bend over. Well, perhaps occasionally but normally, I edge in a kneeling position. I position myself to the right of the edger and run the sander from left to right. I find it quite easy to do and there's no bending over. Yeah, when doing closets and cubbies, I have to stand and bend over to operate the edger. But in a regular room, kneeling while edging works better for me and is less tiring as well.

I am kinda questioning that seat also. The contrapsion may solve the back problem, but give you a problem somewhere else  ( A lot like medications these days , treat the problem & have different side effects:roll: ).

Talked to a guy today that swears by his Craftsman rolling mechanic seat, ofcoarse he's 23
Maybe the bottom line is changing stance etc, ( or no stance ) , ( like your doing, Gary ). Finding more comfortable positions.

I've been using a mechanics chair for about 4 years now.. I don't know what I did without it. It was 19 dollars!!! Easily takes 75% of the stress off your lower back.
I have friends who have the ractac and have nothing but praise for it.

Edger buggy / Edger dolly / the Back-Saver . . . they all can make our job easier. But IMO top of-the-line is the SIT-n-ROLL Edger stool.
Plenty of seat for the butt, & your in the most comfortable position possible.
Your edger disc and other necessary tools are always within reach.
