Has anyone had any experience with this product? I am looking for flooring for a new home. My wife wants bamboo for first floor (1800 sqft). It appears that Strand Bamboo is far more durable than regular. Any thoughts? In the alternative, we are looking at Scandian Bonita Platinum Amendoim or Wood Flooring International product.

If you do decide to go with the Scandian, you won't be disappointed. Its a great product to work with. The last one of theirs I installed was the Bonita Platinum Brazilian Cherry, about a year ago, and I remember there being a pretty thick veneer on it.

I have some samples and the wear layer is twice as thick as their competitors. (BR111, Armstrong Valenza, Anderson etc). Do you know anything about DuroDesign?

No. Sorry.

The bamboo brands that I do have experience with and would recommend, if the situation was right for bamboo, were Greenwood and LM. Not saying the one your looking at isn't quality itself......I just don't know. I'm sure someone does though.

Lumber liquidators told me that the order of durability is from low to high: horizontal, vertical, then strand.

Teragren make a beautiful strand bamboo floor, many colours available, and is an American owned company with full control over the manufacturing process. At least that can give you some confidence in the quality rather than going to an off-shore brand.
Personally, the honeymoon is over for our company and bamboo. Just doesnt pan out in the field the way lab testing predicted.

Teragren synergy strand bamboo is 154% harder than red oak. Teragren has two produts in the strand available in 4 colors for each product. The first product is a 3-3/4" X 1/2" solid strand available in Java, Chestnut, Wheat, and new color of Brindle. They also make a Synergy Wide Plank Floating floor that is 7-11/16" X 9/16" with the Valinge locking system. Sothey really cover their bases on giving you some different looks and installation applications. The Scandian product is a winner as well. They have products that range from the Silver to Gold to Platinum offering different species, widths, and wear layers on each level. Good luck selecting a product.

From what I understand Duro Design is a Canadian company that buys the raw unfinished flooring from various mills and then finishes it themselves. If you like the Synergy by Teragren go with that. If you are looking for a particular color then Duro will be fine. Stranded bamboo is hard as iron who ever you go with.
