I am having new red oak floors installed in a remodel and our flooring guy preferred StreetShoe over Traffic, which is the product I'm familiar with. I'm the type of person who obsesses over details and reads probably way too much, as you'll see from my question. Anyway, he's applied a DuraSeal Quick Coat Stain (looks beautiful btw) and then, after 24 hours of drying, appears to have applied StreetShoe directly. I read the StreetShoe guidelines and Basic seems to prefer applying *two* sealer coats before the urethane finishes. He is going to give us three coats of StreetShoe ultimately, and we are through two of them.

I don't think my flooring guy did this and I don't want to make it seem like I'm telling him how to do his job. Will I get a substandard result, or am I worrying too much?

Thank you for your responses.

You are correct that streetshoe shouldn't be applied directly to the floor, but this is only for certain circumstances, i.e. over maple due to the lateral strength of the finish preventing proper movement of the floor, and white oak because of possible reaction of the finish to the tannin in the wood.
A more important aspect of using sealer coats first before applying streetshoe is in an effort to reduce material costs.
I don't think you have anything to worry about in your case, unless I am missing something here.
Some of the guys in this forum have a much more complete knowledge of finishes than I and may be able to elucidate further.
Personally, I DO like streetshoe better than traffic, but I am in the minority here.

yep three coats of straight shoe is way more durable system if the concerns metioned earlier are not applicable.

Thank you guys for your replies. I spoke to the guy's employee and he says that they do this all the time without adverse effects. He finished the final coat last night and the floor just looks and feels fantastic. I am thrilled with the results.

If any adverse effects do happen and your contractor did not follow the instructions on the finish container the manufacturer may not be willing to help.

OVER STAIN
Allow stains to dry per manufacturer’s directions or
longer depending on environmental conditions.
Apply 2 coats of Commercial Catalyzed Sealer,
Emulsion, or EZ Dry followed by StreetShoe. A test
board is recommended with any stain to insure
compatibility and color acceptance.

It is fine to put the finish right over the stain
