Hello. I am totally new at this floor business. I need to know which is better for oil based polyurethane floors concerning the drying process. It's January. VERY cold. Should we open the windows to allow for a faster dry? Or should we shut the windows and crank the heat? What would all you floor men ( women?) do?

I would suggest turning up the heat.

Which is better ? Keep the house warm and do not open windows. Opening windows and letting the house temperature fall will absolutely not let the urethane dry faster .Cold will absolutely "retard" dry time.

The only reason to open any windows at all is to let fresh air in and allow urethane vapors to exit the house. And if you choose to do so , only crack one or two windows slightly so that they are barely open. This means that you will loose some heat obviously but not nearly as much as if you were to leave windows wide open.

Unless you live in Tucson or southern AZ. Hitting the 70's this week, yay!

Arizona sounds nice . Where do I sign up . The work flow in Connecticut is pretty much dried up. Even high end work is hard to come across.
