I have two questions related to this topic:

What is the best way to remove the dried glue under the tongues of the boards that I have last installed in order to install the next row of boards tightly together?

How do I prevent this from happening after the next break I take before completing my flooring project?

I am installing prefinished Brazilian Walnut in 5/16" x 2 1/4" strips, and using Mapei ECO 995 moisture barrier/adhesive (pain in the a--, btw!).

Thanks for any advice!

All you can do is carefully clean it out with a utility knife and chisel, very tedious.

IMO this is a perfect example of one of the challenges in respect to the 2 in 1,( barrier/adhesive), not to mention the challenge of just plain installing the field of a 5/16" x 2 1/4" product in it. IMO this is the beginning of the rediculous scenarios using this product.

I imagine installing that particular product in the 2/1 has been a nightmare. Now once you do get the t&g clean, good chance the "barrier" will be compromised at that point.

Let me guess 5/16 Braz.Walnut ( Bellawood?)...Mapei...this has LL written all over it. The 2/1 should have never been sold with that product, ( it would be a nightmare for a pro).

Scrape off the excess glue using a scraper like this http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... ps-sellers. To prevent it from happening again. Scrape us excess glue prior to taking a break. It is also a good idea to use some strap clamps to hold the floor together while the glue sets up.

Yes, LL. The 2in1 is gone so I need to buy more, as I have about 200 more sq ft to install. Is it okay to switch to traditional moisture barrier and adhesive products for the remainder?

I have been using a utility knife and flat-tip screwdriver to remove the dried glue under tongue, but was hoping there was a better method since it is so darn tedious! I guess I will continue with that process...

I appreciate the feedback.

Yes, no problem to switch to a cured barrier, then adhesive, for the remainder. But not sure how that will work out price wise versus the 2/1, the coverage, and the remaining footage. Still may be worth it. You will have to be careful not to create a level difference, when you continue from existing.

Wish I had a better solution for cleaning bottom of the tongue. Don't envy you on that one.

I bought one of these, works great. http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... DEQ8wIwAg#

But I like to roll my wood into the glue with my hundred pound roller. Don't think you can use one of those with the 2n1 systems
