I am getting ready to install our ¾” hardwood oak flooring. My question is about the ¾” spacing that is needed. If I leave a ¾” spacing near the door frame, the door molding that runs down the door frame, would not cover the ¾” gap. Most door molding are ¾” and taper down to something less then a ¼”. On the walls this gap is covered by baseboard and ¼ round. This is in our family room that we removed paneling and replaced it with drywall, so all the door molding have been remove. So near the door frame where the door molding would come down to the flooring, do I run the flooring closer to the to the door frame, so the door molding cover it.
I hope I am making this clear. Appreciate your thoughts.

The floor goes undernerneath, undercut it deep. You can chisel out some of the studs if you want more room.
