I just moved into a home where the previous owner had Brazilian Cherry Hardwood Flooring done throughout most of the home. Unfortunately my 100lb. Labredor Retriever is scratching the hell out of it.

We tried having his nails trimmed as short as they'll go, but no good.

I did a search on similar issues and found that some people mention using a dull finish to help mask the scratches. Another person mentioned using "Gym Seal" which is what they use in gymnasiums.

Any suggestions?

Forget Gymseal, which is just another oil-based polyurethane. The reality is, dogs are hell on wood floors and the hardest finishes made still will scratch. So, either live with scratches or keep the dog off the floors. If you wish to recoat, try Bona Traffic in satin, which is very low luster.

Well we've relegated the dog to one carpeted room from now on. Is there a quick fix or can I buff out the scratches that he already created? They don't seem to be deep or real bad...yet.

Thanks!
