Does this make sense?
470 sq. ft. red oak with a 5 inch Brazilian Cherry border.

U-sand 36/40/80 grits

Using a buffer to finish
What pads do I use?

Vacuum/tack with micro fiber towels.

Red Oak - Bona Dry fast Natural Stain applied with 10 inch padco pad on a pole hand wiped with cotton low lint wipes.
Brazilian Cherry – Bona Seal applied with a 10 inch padco pad on a pole.

For the finish I plan to use Bona’s Satin Traffic. Applied with padco’s T-bar and Lambskin Floor Coater 18inch.

Should I screen or buff prior to applying traffic?

Directions say to screen let the first coat dry 2-3 hours.

Can I screen and apply the final coat now?

I will have a buffer at the house to do my final screening prior to stain but I’m nervous about going through the first layer of Traffic, I have read about pole sanding in between coats should I use 220 grit sand paper to ruff up the first coat vacuum/tack and apply the second coat?

I plan to get both coats down on the floor within the same day if possible.

Have I missed something?

For the stained red oak, you have to apply a coat of Traffic before you can abrade it. On the BC, you don't have to. But if it is has been more than 24 hours and/or there are excessive grain raise, you would have to abrade with conditioning pad before your first coat of traffic. I don't think you get too much grain raise with BC.

It is not recommended that you screen after your first coat and then apply a 2nd coat of Traffic in the same day. Unless you did one coat early in the morning and then wanted to abrade it very late in the afternoon. Otherwise, 2-3 hours is only good enough for you to "hot" coat it.

i dont know if time is an issue for you, but i would let the stain and sealer dry, then apply a coat of traffic directly over it. Then come back the next day, abrade and prep floor and apply your first and second coats back to back without buffing (allow time for drying in between coats of course).
