I would like to thank everyone for the replies to my questions on this site. This was a very useful source of information leading up to my recent floor installation.

I have a new appreciation for the trade. I only put down 720+ Sq. Ft of 3/4 x 3 1/4 Solid (pre-finish). Enough to make me appreciate how much goes into a flooring job.

For other DIY's:

I also took a chance on buying a combination cleat nailer & stapler from Habor Freight Tools (model 94446 for $165). It worked great. I used Bostich 2" cleats and had no nailing issues to speak of. I set the compressor at 70 psi and had very few tongue fractures.

Thanks again for all the tips and helpful insight.

How about some photos? Always nice to see what different types of floor look like.

The sharing of information here is great and outstanding!

OP: Please post pics. They will help to keep everything alive and also might answer a question that someone might have. (any pic is worth a thousand words)

Plus they will look pretty. :)

Thank you for your experience with the HF combination staple/cleat gun. There have been several posts about the stapler, but yours is the first about the combo.

(side note: Harbor Freight air tools seem to be part of the 20% wheat from the 80% chaffe of that store; for the diy'er) <--- If not, take it back for a refund.
