I am about to buy a house. The house is five years old and has distressed wood floor. The floor does not look good at all, I am not sure if the distressed look is intentional or there is something wrong with the floor. I am attaching some pics of the floor for your reference. The complete floor has the same distressed look.

I need some advice from experts here:
- if the there is something wrong with the floor or is it the intentional look
- what are my options to make it look better

Thanks in advance!!

first seen if you can get all that sheetrock dust out of the indentations. I do think the look is intentional but without the dust they are suppose to be black.

I disagree, to me it looks like floor abuse.

It does lok like there is black down in those spots. I agree with Kevin. Pretty krappy distressed look though if you ask me. Looks like someone mopped the floor instead of vacuuming first after some remodeling.

Thanks for the replies!
The whole floor in the house looks the same (even the corners and under the rug). This makes me think its not abuse.

Anyways, what are my options here, can this be fixed?

Thanks!

Not fixable unless that stuff in those holes can take stain after a sanding, and if that floor can be sanded at all ie thickness of veneer. Even if it can take stain I'd say it will not look right. But worth a try in a small area first.

is the white in the floor everywhere? You can see the stain down below the dings thats what makes me think it was intentional. Looks like a armature job of distressing but when you have a 12 year old barefoot workforce thats what you get.

Can the white stuff be removed with a stiff brush?
