Howdy... 5/8 X 3 5/8 X 6' bamboo solid going over 23/32 OSB subfloor with 1/4" OSB cross directional on top of that. Can I run the planks with the joists or must I go at a right angle to them?

Thanks for any help.. This is a great site...

Dave

How far apart are your joists?? You have a 1" (close enough) subfloor. This is pretty close to o.k. for running with the joists if you choose. The link above will mention 1-1/8" Just make sure your joists are no farther than 16" apart. If your installing in a nice wide open area you still stand a chance of seeing some gradual waviness over a few years of traffic.

Hopefully some others will sound off on this as my expertise is in sanding and finishing (my business partner's the installer) just in case I'm off a bit.

Have fun!

Yes, IF your floor joists are 16" oc, then you probably are ok with running paralell with them IF the subfloor is FLAT. Most OSB subfloors I see need the seams sanded because they're puckered up. Check with a straight edge.

Thanks for the replies back.. My joists are 24" on-center, so I guess I'll go perpendicular to them..

GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure they will lose in a sportsmanlike manner. Go Seahawks. Lose with dignity.
