Hi,

I am a first timer at laying hardwood. I have read a few comments and publications saying that I need to place a threshold peice (one peice parallel to the door opening) in front of any doorways. Is this required and why??

(I know the explaiation is bad this may help)

I am using a 6 inch wide walnut standard length board. I do not want to have to make butt joints or cut new grooves if I do not have to.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you'll find that for a more elegant look, you'll want to keep it continuous.

Installation instructions say to only do a room at a time and then put thresholds in for making it easy for the inexperienced.

Are you gluing, nailing or floating? They maybe talking about a header board or are they talking threshold?
