So the tile is in but I now have a different level. Not worried a bit but, I would like to hear from others who have successfully overcome the difference with an acceptable transition appearance. Thanks. One idea I have is to simply lay a strip the long way and raise one edge. In a worst case scenario I could lay 1/4" plywood either in the livingroom or throughout the whole house. What are your ideas????

save yourself money & tilt the board or if you like in a 2 ft span install gradually bring the floor from flush down a 1/4". hope this helps. :)

Use a t molding transition.

The higher floor must be straight along the transition. The T molding will just barely sit on the higher floor, so there is no gap along the back of it, from being slightly tilted.

I'm on a 5/8 bamboo job now, that the bathroom tiles are only a little over a 1/4

T-mould transitions are also available in an "off-set" configuration to accomodate height differences between two floors.

Next time in hindsight underlayment under the tile woulda been a good thing. Is you Bamboo solid or true engineered? How much of a gap is there in between the two? Or pull a few rows of tiles up and ramp it up with more mud.

Somebody deleted my reply to this...

Never have I seen a factory made "off set" Only T molding Endcaps( also called babay thresholds, carpet reducer or square nose reducer)

To get an off set, the search is on for a trim made for a thinner milled floor.

Got a link to show one, specially made for this???

Well Austin, the mill that makes them for me calls them Transition Moulds but I like my term better. Have attached a link below for you.
They show only two off-sets (transitions, lol) but more are available and the two stock sizes can be adjusted by cutting off some of the stem or adding some plywood under.
Stock sizes are : 7/16th-5/16th and 3/4-7/16th

Ya, that is what I was getting at. They are custom milled, not something supplied by the prefinished floor manufacturer as a direct matching trim piece.

The tile should be straight so I would try a reducer. They come in different thickness 5/16, 3/8, 1/2.

In this case, the poster indicated it was an unfinished floor so the unfinished mouldings can be finished at the same time as the floor.
But you are right, with pre-finished flooring it becomes a bit of a challenge to match the stain and gloss level exactly. I have a guy in my warehouse who is excellent at it so no biggie for us.
