Our 60 yr. old oak hardwood livingroom floor has a large (3 full sheets) plywood insert in the middle of it. It is not possible to find an exact match for the current wood. We are looking for some suggestions for designs we could put in the place of the plywood. Does anyone have any suggestions or know where we could get some pictures of possible designs? Thanks!!

There are many options the simplest that comes to mind would be to be sure you have nice straight edges on existing flooring. After that you could lay in a feature strip of a different species or a border and fill in the remaining area with a species that will compliment the existing floor and sand and finish entire floor.
