I have a homeowner who wants a black floor and I mean black! 1 coat of ebony was no where near what she wants. Whats the easiest way to get a completely black floor. Were going to use oak

All of the above. Stains have dyes in them.So if you use a dye, you will be mixing it with a solvent like alcohol and you pretty much end up wit ha stain. But getting back to the topic, black floors happen the easiest when you use a water based black stain or a thinned black latex paint.

I actually had a similar case of this a few months back. I don't normally use water based stains so i didn't think of that being an option. One thing that greatly effects this though is the final sanding grit and the way you apply the stain. I personally would water pop the floor and use a lambs wool being very generous. Otherwise the floor sometimes likes to be more brown than black. (kinda weird for an ebony stain) The other thing is see if the home owner is expecting to still see the grain or not.... Heh could always use some used motor oil? haha
