When you are cutting hardwood flooring on the Mitre Saw do you put the finish side up or down to get the cleanest cut?

Good side up…less chance of splintering the finish and scratching the surface. Try a piece and see it for yourself.

If the saw is a slider, don't slide through it. Lock it all way back and cut straight down on it. A little cleaner that way if the end cuts are exposed.

Another tip about sliders. If you're cutting wide boards that need very clean cuts, first, use a 60+ tooth blade. And go SLOWER. I'll often make multiple passes. I score the surface first with a shallow cut, pulling the saw toward me, like a radial arm saw, instead of pushing it away. I have found this techinque produces the cleanest, chip free cuts. Try it, you'll see.
