Curved Transition - I'd like to do a curved trasition between my 3/4" red oak floor and my linolium kitchen floor. The elongated S shape would be approx. 3' long and connect to a straight piece of transition molding on each side to then to the wall. There would be a 3/4" reduction to my current kitchen floor.

Has anyone attempted such a transition and if so, what kind of tips would you give me? Is there an acceptable material to use instead of wood than can easily curve? I thought about using one or more pieces of wider red oak, cutting a pattern, then milling it to the desired shape.

Or am I just nuts!

You could build a template in the shape of the S curve and lay out and glue 1/4"strips of matching flooring into the jig to get the transition piece or try a maker of rubber trims that may have something that will work for this application. This is used alot in homes with curved staircases or coved sheetrock.
